Our Story
Crystalia Blake started coaching in 2009, became certified through USAAS to coach in 2012, and founded the Aqua Angels in 2014 in Virginia. After three successful years, she put the team on hiatus when she moved to Florida in 2017 and joyfully served as head coach of the Gainesville Gaviatas for four years.
After an Artistic Swimming Internship with USAAS in the summer of 2021, she revived the Aqua Angels Artistic Swimming Team in Gainesville to serve the community and its surrounding areas.
The team’s core values reflect what Crystalia and her mentors have learned: that athletes are more receptive to positivity and compassion, that good sportsmanship and the development of the inner champion takes priority, and you can build trust and athlete confidence by validating and implementing the athlete’s creative ideas.
With these values in mind, our team believes cultivating the next generation of confident, compassionate coaches and athletes is a valuable asset in their personal prosperity and of our evolving sport.
Our Aqua Angels staff are known to work in harmony together and enjoy coaching when the atmosphere of a compassionate culture is allowed to flourish. They are committed to providing the positivity required in aiding the healthy development of the athlete’s self-esteem and self-confidence, which inspires the champion within!
To enrich our community and introduce families in and around Alachua County to the beautiful and challenging sport of Artistic Swimming, our team has enthusiastically joined the family of Sun Country Sports Center West to offer classes. We also offer classes at the North Central Florida YMCA in recreational and competitive formats with a flexible schedule.

Aqua Angels Artistic Swimming has some of the best swimming coaches on staff! They’re friendly, approachable and proficient in their line of work.
